General contractors
A low voltage sub that coordinates rough-in and trim-out with your schedule.
Low voltage prewire for builders, contractors, and business owners building or remodeling: Cat6 network cabling, Wi-Fi, camera, and phone system drops, a network rack, and access control rough-in, scheduled around your general contractor so it is in the walls before the drywall goes up.
Computers To Go is rated 4.8 on Google by Saginaw customers and 4.7 by Midland customers. Builders and owners get a local team with two walk-in stores, the same people who will later support the network, cameras, and phone system the wiring was run for.
Straight answer first
A new commercial building or remodel typically needs Cat6 network cabling to every workstation and printer location, ceiling drops for Wi-Fi access points, security camera prewire, phone system drops, a network rack with a patch panel, and rough-in for access control at the doors. Computers To Go plans and runs all of it as one structured system, tested and labeled back to the rack.
Working with your GC
Low voltage wiring happens in two visits that fit the general contractor's schedule: rough-in after framing and electrical, before insulation and drywall, and trim-out after paint and ceilings are finished. Computers To Go coordinates both with the GC so we are never the reason a wall stays open or a ceiling grid waits.
| Phase | When it happens | What Computers To Go does |
|---|---|---|
| Planning | During design, before framing is complete | Mark drop, access point, camera, and door locations; size the rack and plan its power with the electrician |
| Rough-in | After framing and electrical, before insulation and drywall | Set low voltage brackets, pull Cat6 to every location, run camera and access control cable, leave labeled service loops |
| Trim-out | After drywall, paint, and ceilings | Terminate jacks and patch panel, dress the rack, test and label every run |
| Equipment install | Before move-in | Mount access points and cameras, install network gear and desk phones if included |
| Handoff | At completion | Provide test results and a labeled map of every drop |
Who we work with
Builders, general contractors, electricians, and business owners hire Computers To Go when a project needs a dedicated low voltage contractor. Contractors get a sub who shows up for rough-in and trim-out on schedule; owners get wiring planned around how the business will actually use its network, cameras, and phone system after opening day.

We handle data, camera, and phone cabling so your crew stays on power.
Drops placed where staff, printers, and cameras will actually be.
Open walls are the cheapest time to add or replace cabling.
Why prewire
Prewiring during construction is cleaner and usually less disruptive than adding cable later, because pathways are open and cable can go exactly where it is needed without surface raceway or cutting finished drywall. Planning drops before walls close also means access points and cameras land where coverage is best, not where a cable could reach.
Existing buildings
If the building is already finished and occupied, Computers To Go still adds network drops, camera cabling, and cleaner pathways to existing offices; that retrofit work is covered on our city low voltage pages rather than here.

Questions
As early as possible, ideally while plans are being finalized and before framing is complete. Computers To Go needs to rough-in cable, boxes, and pathways after framing and before insulation and drywall, so getting on the general contractor's schedule early avoids cutting into finished walls later.
Yes. Computers To Go coordinates with the general contractor and electrician on rough-in and trim-out timing, box locations, and where the network rack and its power will go. We can work for the builder or directly for the business owner, whichever fits the project.
Yes. Because Computers To Go also provides networking, security cameras, and hosted phone systems, the same team that prewires the building can install the access points, cameras, firewall, and Grandstream desk phones at trim-out, so the business opens with everything working.

“The cheapest time to get cabling right is before the drywall goes up. We plan the drops with the builder and the owner, show up for rough-in on schedule, and come back to finish it after paint,” says Zachariah Mularz, owner of Computers To Go.
